J. Allen Emerson (white). Convict ed at the February. 1907. term- of court ' for Anderson County,. ot mur der, with recommendation to mercy, and sentenced to life imprisonment In the State penitentiary. Paroled. August 16. 1913. upon condition that he leave the State of South Carolina, within 24 hours and never return. Pardon granted November 2'5, 1914. The Emerson case -ls too well known io the people of Anderson County to warrant elaboration here. Emerson shot and killed Mr. Tom Drake, one of Anderson County's most prominent and successful planters, in the latter's own home. The case at tracted interest throughout the upper section of the State,, o wing to the prominence of the parties involved. Bob Blgby (negro). Convicted at tho May? I913- tenn of-court for An derson County of manslaughter and sentenced to ten .years' imprisonment. P?rc?ed. Bob Blgby. it will be recalled, ?hot and killed another negro by the name of Henry Johnson, hes brother-in-law. In North Anderson, on May 8, 1913. The Hilling took place in the after ! noon about 3 o'clock and waa the out growth ot a family quarrel. E. Garrett Dodson (negro). Con victed ai the January, 1914, term of court for Anderson County of man slaughter and sentenced to four years on public works. Paroled EL Garrett Dodson and George Dod son were Jointly indicted for the shooting and killing of Zeke Bradley, e* f-on** Pieaaani tksreb, colored. Tho killing occurred on sunday, Au gust 2, 1913, during a meeting at this church. When the case came to trisl the grand Jury found a no-bill against George Dodson. CllfUn Washington (negro). Con victed at the May, 1914, term of court for Anderson County for manslaughter and sentenced to three years oa pub lie works. Paroled, Clifton Washington and Henry Har ria were Jointly indicted for the kill ing of a negro wpsnea, Ida Kelley. The killing took place. March 14, 1914, oa Jsatas Pea noan's place, near Hon4e Path, though the negroes aid not Uve on that plantation. Washing ton was an Abbeville County negro. Upon trial Harrie waa acquitted. . MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 27.-An unexpect ed session ot the coroner's Jory, in vestigating the death mystery of A. A. Bogga and his- 18-year-old daugh ter. Marjorie, waa held here today. The jury had previously adjourned until next Wednesday. ' Several witnesses were examined,! but nothing was revealed as to the] testimony given. Neither has any an nouncement been made as to the cause | ot the deaths. The police continue to work on the theory that 'Bogga ead vis daughter were murdered by being struck over the heads with a hlunt Instrument and their country home near here then burned in the hope of concealing t crime. i The charred bodies of the lawyer and young women were found early Wednesday, in the ruins of the resi dence and physicians have expressed the opinion that lt was possible for falling timbers to hav? crushed the skuiis A watch which had been worn by Mr. Beggs, was found in the ruins ot his home today, lt bad stopped et 3:05.
