Princess Wenona, the little Slox Bureahot with Miller Bros. Arlington's 101 Ranch Wild West Show, which ex hibits In Anderson next Tuesday, Oct 27, has had a remarkably adventurous life, even for an Indian. She was born on the Pine Ridge agency, South Dakota; was captured with her mother by a band of rene gade Crees and1 carried across the Ia toraational line into Canada; was kepi a prisoner until she was ten years old ; waa rescued by a band of roving Ban nocks, and ultimately found her way back to her own tribe; was sent to tho Carlisle Indian school and received a liberal education; was thrown from n pony on returning to reaorvation and was so nearly killed that tho obi squaws were preparing to chant for her; was decreed by tho old chief, Cray Eagle, to' wed his son, Soaring Elk, but had other views, and. eloped with William Eagle Shirt, another young brave who. has since become a chief and has won great success in tho 101' Ranch motion pictures as weil as in the show ; had to remain away from the tribe in order to evade the wrath of the old chief, and finally returned to the reservation after bis death."
