Burts has been elected suporlntondent of the Rock Hill ji b lie schools and has accepted the po sition. He was formerly superinten dent of tho EaBley schools and later became principal of the Furman Fit ting School, which position he has held until he was elected to his new place. Drove v Truck From Columbia. Deputy Sheriff Jim Will innis and "Coon" Murray havo returned from Columbia, making tho trip from tho capital to Anderson in a Reo motor truck. The truck1 waa bought by an Anderson man, and Mr. Murray waa sont for it. Mr. Williams happened to be in Columbia at tbe time and so the two set out for Anderson. It ls about 130 miles from Columbia to this city and they drove the truck here In ex actly 12 hours and 30 minute's. Mitchell aa Meat and Milk Inspector Here An important meeting of the boara of health of Anderson took place yes terday, at which time thc board drew up resolution^ which recommend to tho Anderson city council the election of Dr. John Major as city meat and milk inspector to succeed Dr. J. C. i Mitchell. Dr. Mitchell's term of or , (leo will expire on October 1st and it I ls geuernlly presumed that council will accept thc board's recommenda tion and will elect Dr. Major to this position. "Rip" Major, os ho ls known by ali his friends, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Major. After being graduated from Clemson College, ho was alco graduated from the Alabama Poly technic. Institute and he Is able and competent in every respect.
