The opening waa steady at an ad vance of 2 to 4 points in response to higher cables. Private weather ad vices indicated a few additional show ers in Texas and the market eased off to about yesterday's closing figures right after the call under realizing. The ofllcial map, however, showed no sign of any general ruin in thc south west and the western belt forecast for generally fair wc^.t'ior was quickly followed by an increasing demand and advancing prices. New Orleans and other southern points appeared to bo buying new crop deliveries hero while there was continued covering by local shorts and a moderate de mand from free trade sources.
