AIKEN AT PICKENS. The pressure for space this week prevents an extensive detailed re port of Col. Aiken's speech made at Pickens on Saturday last. It was a very comprehensive dis course on the Republican and Dem ocratic candidates for the Presi deflcy, and Vice-presidency, the tariff, and the expenditure of tie public funds, with his views as to the probability of Cleveland and H-endricks' election, andl his fears of our inability to seat them. He fears that the northern men will cheat us out of our men because they'have money, brains and pow er, unless there is an uprising which will secure to Cleveland the office to which we hope to elect him. He had gathered up statis ties which were ve'ry interesting, and1 gave them to the large audi ence which greeted him. For instance, it is alleged that we have $150,000,000 stirplus in the U. S. Treasury. The taxes collected by the Internal Revenue systent is $137,000,000 a year. The tax paid upon sugar as a tar iff amounted to $50,000,000, that 1mOn iron amounterd to abont the main~d tti dn W~erfigood was trom. No & 6 d 'per .o He says 't tatkes, or'would' take" $269,000,000- a year to run this government economically well. In no wise is he an advocate of the Blair Educational Bill as he understands it. He said that Blair was the rankest, stalwart re publican upon the 'floor of Con gress and that he didn't believe in the separation of white and color ed children in educating them. He made reference to the school in Pickens, and said that the chil dren would appreciate an educa tion more as a gift from their pa rents. That it was a good invest ment to pay for one's own childrens education. RESULT OF THE PRIMARY ELEC. TION.
