Jas. A. Hoyt of Grooni ville, will edit and publish the Cotton Plant for the next year. -Governor Ellerbe says he will remove the Metropolitan police oil of Charleston, the 1st of October. -The Pickens High school is still in a flourishing condition. New scholars are coming in nearly every day. -A little daughter of W. J. Perry, of Praters, is very ill. Dr. T. W. Folger, of Central, is attend ing on her. -Mrs. John Keolor, of Freeman postffice, Greenville county, is vis iting her brother, M. F. Hester, here this week. -John E. Steele, son of Capt. R. E. Steele, .of Alexaader, has again resumed his studies at the Easley Graded school. -Cote Howard, who was sen tenced to the chain-gang for thirty days, escaped last Saturday. He has not yet been caught. -The latest: What kind of a noise annoys an oyster? A noisy noise annoys an oyster. Its aw ful when you say it quick. -Rufus 3. Watkins and W. K. Verdict was, not guilty. This was a little annox to sensational trial of groat renown ; and might be en tered as scene No. 4. Every town in the county has had a whack at it. -There was a church re-union at Carmel Saturday, which wis much onjoyed by those who had the pleasure of attendong, to say nothing of the m.eting of many who have been members of the old mother church which was repres ented from a fow years to 80 past. Solicitor M. F. Ansel and D. It. Russol were the principal speakers and it seemed they di<f their best. Refreohnments were one of the at tractions of the occasion and they were sufficient to tempt tho appetite of the nost fastidious.
