S W. W. F. JIUt II' , EDI"R. During tho Instituto at Easloy the second wook in July, a part of each afternoon will bo dovotod to the examination of applicants for Teachors cortificato. If you want want to toach this summor bo on hand. Certificatos grantod will not bo p)(1ial but, rogular. DoWt foryet this. The examination for the Wim throp Normal collogo will take placeJuly .17th, Don't forgot tho dato, nor got it mixed ip with omo of tho othor oxaminations that aro being advortisod about this timo. Thoro aro two Scholarships, .ono worth $150, and the other $30. Trustoos will ploaso make ar rangolionts to- olen tho schools im those districts that will run dur ing tho summor if pqssible thu 16th of July, or as soon as possiblo threreafter. The time they can be run doponds on the priceo paid teachors and the amount of funds to run thon with. Ii somo dis tricts schools woro run in the win ter or spring and they aro not liko ly to 1o ablo to run as long as t hose having till their funds to their credit. There is no law regulating the salary of tho teacher, nor the num bor of hours required to bw taught. That is the business of contract ing parties. The teachors has no authority ta leavo the school in chargo of alnoth or party whether they hold a cer tificato or no. TrusteOs aro re quostod to look after this matter and not to issuo pay cortificates until the tio is mado up or satis faction given. After the school has been in ses sion a wook or ton days it would be well for the trusteos to visit the school and find out if ll t h; chi (ren in the (istricts are um atten( ancet'. Soietimnes sickness keeps the children out but,.in many Cases it is in(li'erence or erlossness, it may be on account of not being able to buy books. It is the duty of trustoos to see that there aro blackboards in the school room, and seo that the teacher usos them. The county has too many schools for the School Commissioner to be0 at, all needed lhaces at' the right time and further, the Teachers Instituto is intended to help the t e a c h e r. Last year Prof. IIluhs told how the teacher could got up all that was needed0( with lhttlo cost. All that is needed is ai packet or two of Dia momt Die.4, a b ottle, some~t water) a rag, a stick, a string and someW paper and Ithe teacher can make charts that w~ill1 answer for blooks. If it is possible, you trustees and patronis attend the institute tils year, andl you will find that the mnethiods of instruction are not at all similor to tihe ones in use wheni you. and I woe boys. It is ai part of School Commissioner's business to try to implrovo the schools by improving the teachers, and it is a a part of your duty to see that the teac'hers do their duty, come andl learn what they can do, and then give thomn all the aid you can. .CoitunniA.
