The paper carried the complete program of the press association including that part carried out in Conway, also the Cons way program in detail as*agreed upon at a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce the first of the week, and 3 it also carried pictures of prominent persons connected with the reception and pictures of leading places in the 2 town. The editors spoke e of the entertainment in the highest terms and they appeared to be pleased at the reception given them. It turned out that the steamer Comj manche was still on the ways at Waverly Mills and could not be used in making the trip down the Waccamaw River on Wednesday evening. The boat of Mr. W. A. Stilley was used and room was found to take care of .-ill that wished to take in the river trip. The others all left here by autoa mobiles for Myrtle Beach on Wed" nesday evening at 2:30 o'clock. Merchants of Conway in honor of the occasion decorated their stores during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Everybody bring a basket and help out with the big dinner. o QUEEN ATTENDS OPENING GATE One of the nicest things done in entertaining the members of the press association last week, cn their trip through Horry, was the welcome extended to them by Miss Flora Mae Holliday, recently voted the most' beautiful young lady in the state. She lives with her parents at Gallivants Ferry near the Little Pee Dee River, the dividing line between Marion and Horry. As the visitors arrived at the county line there was a gate in the center of the bridge. As each car came up the visitors were made welcome by the queen and her maids before opening the gate which let them into the : independent republic. ? o THERE WAS MUSIC Last Wednesday the Conway band furnished delightful music on the streets upon the arrival of the press association party from Marion. During the progress of the dinner which was served at the city hall, the orchestra from Hie Myrtle Beach Yacht Club furnished soft music that was a delight to tho.;e present at the luncheon. 11 THE AYNOR WELCOME Ay nor extended a hearty welcome to the men of the press when they passed along last week on the way to Conway. There was a large sign which read, "Welcome to Aynor." Lemonade was served by pretty Ay nor irirls while the leading citizens of tho town conversed with the visitors 1'or a few minutes. Copeland of San Antonia, Texas, spent a few days at Myrtle Beach last week doing stunts with their new Curtis Oriole flying machine. S. B. Graham, deputy sheriff of Horry county, who lvis recently been appointed special officer for Myrtle Beach, took the first trip up ahd enjoyed some of the clever stunts up in the air.
