# WE WILL ENJOY DENTISTS NEXT < The State Dental Association decided last week to hold the meeting next year at Myrtle Beach. In order that our readers may know in advance something of these gentlemen, we are publishing in full the account of their meeting in Georgetown; as published last week in the Georgetown Times: The South Carolina State Dental Association, with a total attendance of eighty members, was called to or f der by President W. C. Milhous, ot Barnwell, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Winyah Indigo Society Hall. The session opened with an Invocation by Dr. R. Herbert Jones, of the Duncan Methodist Church, followed by a most cordial address of welcome by Mayor J as. W. Wingate. The i^sponse was made by Dr. R. ?.tmar Smith of Charleston. After this the regular business of the association was taken up with the annual address of the president, reports of the secretary and treasurer and the various committees. The remainder of the morning was 1 ...UU tcifti'ii up vvitu tiiiuo, Jis wiu cn^ tire afternoon. At 3 o'clock two very able lectures were made. Dr. E. C. Dye on the subject, "A Plea for the Conversation of Pulpless Teeth" and by Dr. Thomas B. Hartzell, President of National Dental Association, on the subject of "Decay Teeth and its Causes." On Wednesday morning Dr. Hartzell lectured again. He told of the National Association and its work in a very instructive way. Dr. Hartzell made a host of friends among the state dentists and his contrbution to the scientific and social program was i GALLIVANTS W1 i HA ^ Mr. Editor: * There will he held at Ga State of Horry a basket picni c jjc and interesting* program is being T and importance have been invited & Attend, such as fishing, boating, h etc. This will be somewhat of i X and we hope the attendance will b< * Your: I I * H. He is universally recognized as pne of the big men of the dental profession, and his words were listened to with the highest degree of interest by his brother practioners. A recess was taken after this lecture, and the dentists and their wives, accompanied by a number of citizens and ladies boarded a large number of yachts and motor boats and went to North Island and the ocean jetties. In the pavillion at North Island a big fish fry had been prepared, and with appetites whetted to edge by the voyage and the salt air,the jolly excursion party fell to on the good things to eat and had a glorious time satisfying the "inner man." It was a delightful oulinjr for all, especially *o those unacquainted with the coast scenery and the rolling deep. Of course there were seasoned fishermen in the crowd who must perforce indulge their craving, and a number of fine bass and flat fish were taken. The judicial profession, however, carried off the honors when Judge S. W. G. Ship.p, who had just adjourned court here, landed a 36 pound bass. The excursionists did not return until late in the afternoon. It waplanned to attend the Wesley Bible Class festival at the head of King Street that night, but a severe thunder storm prevented. Thursday was taken up with clinics and demonstrations, and the election of officers for the ensuing year. The election results were as follows: President, Dr. J. P. Glenn, Spartan burg; 1st Vice-President, Dr. David Aiken, Winnsboro; 2nd Vice-President, Dr. Herbert M. Hucks, George town; Recording Secty., Dr. E. C. Dye, Greenville; Directing Secty., Dr. J. S. These gentlemen worked like beav- : ers to make the meeting of the dentists here a wonderful success such as it is conceded tc have been, and the full mead of praise and thanks of the community is theirs as worthy representatives of Georgetown. As always, the women did their full share. On Tuesday afternoon the visitors were delightfully entertained by them at the Country Club. During the course of the convention a Dental Chapter the Psi Omega Fraternity was organized, anc' officers elected. An honor worthily bestowed was t\he election of Dr. Herbert M. Hucks as 2nd Vice-President of the Dental Association. Myrtle Beach was selected as the next place of meeting. o Some boys go to the army or the navy and leave behind them a number of debts. We know of one man who has a claim for board against a boy who went away and joined the army and now the boarding house keeper I cannot collect his money. It is wrong* for boys to do that way. They evidently think that joining the army is the end of their troubles, but they may find out later on that these debts are still hanging over. o NOTED SPEAKERS OF KENTUCKY Will Speak at Conway, Aynor and Loris?Everybody Is Invited.
