The schools and colleges are called upon to assist in raising South Carolina's quota of $89,000 to the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. The appeal should be particularly strong to the school boys and girls of this state, because Mr. Wilson spent a part of his school days in South Carolina. It is not the amount contributed which counts sp much as the number ot individuals 'who show interest by giving even small amounts. If the average contribution from the school children of the state were as much as ton cents their obligation would be fully met. It is proposed to raise one million dollars as a permanent Foundation. With the income from this Founda Hon awards will be made to individuals and groups who have rendered distinguished service "to Democracy, public welfare, liberal thought, or peace through uist;',e." Governor Cooper is the Chairman of the foundation in South Carolina, and writes me thus in re gard to it: "It seems to me the purpose of thi ; i Foundation ouj'ht to appeal to every person who believes in pe*'-"e thvomrh ' justice.
