John Johnson, the barber, and who is the husband of the daughter of Susan Graham, says that when lie was awakened and looked out that the house was in flames and so far gone that it was impossible to got in<icTo and save the occupants; that he called his wife and they went out at once and saw there was no chance to do anything. This statement made by Johnson is borne out by statements made by the late J. Momoe Johnson, who was among the first to get to the fire. J. Monroe Johnson is now dead, but before he died he said I hat flying rumors were doing an injustice to the daughter and the son-in-law; that they were shocked at the time. It is also said that Sumter Richardson passed by .his house about If) o'clock the night of the fire; that ho saw Susan Graham in the front wandering about and a-ked her what she wanted; and that she replied she wanted someone to show her the way homo. He took her inside the house and kindled a fire for her on the hearth. Another mistake is as to the pi,'ice where Susan Graham slept. It is stated now on reliable authority that she did not sleep in the bnck room, where there was n > fireplace, but she slept in the front p-irt of the hou>e. where the fireplace vvas located.
