Little, Member of Board Called to Tennessee BOTH OF ROUTES ARE STfiftEEfiOUT Decision Expcctefl upon Little's Return--Rights of Way are Signed The people expected to have the decision of the highway deoirtment and county commU.j'oners, acting together, on the natter of ihe location oi the new road from Conway to Georgetown. Hut t'nc matter has been delayed by the serious illness of the mother of Mr. H. P. Little, a member of the board. He was called to Tennessee a. few days ago by the news that his mother, who lives in that State, had been taken suddenly 1 and dangerously ill. He left at once and the road matter will have to wait until his return. The two routes which the road may take have already been explained in the columns of the Herald, as fully as it could be done without the use of a printed skeieh or mai>. On) <>f the routes runs from Conway to Greenwood church, and then by Martin's Hill to Klondike, or threreabouts. The other takes Ihe present Georgetown and Conway road ad the way from this point to very near ihe crossing of the Great Pee I)ce River. Both of the routes have been staked out and maps and plans made by the road engineer, W. C. Pitts. Members of the commission have already gene over the two routes, v.if we are informed. Members of the county boavd of commissioners already know all \hut there is to know about the two routes. Rights of way contracts have been . by cd v.:-* by 'J" ' owners of real estate -long both of the ways, so that the public is .".ss.ired of the rights of way Yee of cost no matter which of the wavs is taken. There nviy be one or two exceptions to the lot of signatures required, but it is fully believed that the last one will be <.:i*>-?>r>d up before Friday of this w eek. Just as soon as a full attendance ol the board can be had it is understood that there will be a meeting for the: purpose of establishing the location of this new road. It. is also expected that the work on this road will begin now in a very short time. HOW CONWAYITES TOOK THE DAY Now Years war; on Sunday the same /is Christmas was tills year. The hoys of Conway took Saturday night for their usual celebration of ringing the new year in and ringing the old year out. BIG TOBACCO CROP. Unless all signs fail next year's crop of tobacco will be the largest in the history of the c un'ry. issp^c'aliy will this.be true in the bright tobacco areas, for the reason that in the south, in the all-cotton sections, a large tobacco acreage will be pitched, on account of the ravages of the boll weevil and the reduction of the acreage in cotton. The farmers of this | section more than ever before should begin to prepare for the advent of the I boll weevil which is surely coming, I the insect having already made its appe/irance on the border counties of this state. There is no better way to meet boll weevil conditions than with a few | dairy cows as a side line to other farm i work. They will furnish a weekly ' cash income to take care of current running expenses. The manure produced will cut down tho fertilizer bill. Skim milk is very profitable for feed| ing chickens and pigs.
