Not all of this large percentage develop active tuberculosis, it being neccsary for some additional weakening influence to bring out the activity. However, should this added influence bring about activity*.during childhood, the tuberculosis would run a more rapid and more fatal course. There are many diseases and conditions which may be classed as assistants to the fierm of tuberculosis in its deadly work, but the more important of these are colds, influenza, measles, scarlet fever and whooping cough, and such conditions that" favor t)m ilovolnnmiMit and soread of these diseases as insufficient and improper clothing and food, por hygienic surroundings, poor vcntillation and lactc of proper ciuarantine. When one notices a lack of the usual "pep" and vigor, feels more or loss tired rather often, developer a slight cough or regular clearing of throat in the mornings, cold^* that persist, appeetite below par and perhaps a sleeplessness, with or without loss of weight, it is sufficient cause to he alarmed and a visit to the dcctor ror a thorough examination is in order.
