They do not cost < much and they may save your life. I Common courtesy is a great thing ' and yet it is lacking in many place 1 where we expect to find it. 1 Wo should always appreciate o>.> 1 own work a being the easiest and;; best there is in the world. The way j j of believing that the other man's 1 job is the easiest, is the wrong way i to live. I o ( We should all remember at all 1 times that service is what counts in .? this world. It is not so much the i low price at which we offer to some < thing for another; but it is the whole j hearted and faithful service that we t stand ready to deliver. > o There is certainly not the riuht > amount of courtesy and accommoda 1 tion shown on the part of many \vh ) c are in one kind of business or i another; or happen to oocupy some r place of public honor or trust. The depression caused great consternation when t it came along the latter part of t 1920; but they are getting over it i rapidly. They know that they can v raise the most of the things that n they need at their own homes and it v takes but little money to buy the s things they must trot from the store(d like prices are beginning to be now. j o They are getting hack' their confi-}o dence in things in general and every- h body is very glad to see this taking h place. | a [ For Less I | SPECIAL | For P ridav and Saturda 8 August 26 and 27 1 We will sell vard-wid I BLEACHING i 1 2 yards for (Men's Pin Check PANTS All sizes We specialize in Clot ing for Men, You! There are many who claim to he business men and yet they will let their letters go unanswered. We shoukl no more think of refusing: to leturn the time of day, or to refuse to speak when we are addressed, than we would of answering a letter that is written to us, for the letter is really worse than the former. o The whole county is interested deeply in the cattle dipping cases recently arising. There was nothing said in the Spring when the farmers were not so busy in their tobaccv crops. In the midst of the tobacco season notices are served on numbers of planters and they are required to drop their work which is their only dependence for a little money and dip their cattle after perhaps spending days in hunting for them in a big pasture. U is an abuse of (lis crction under the circumstances here mentioned and there is no one who can deny that it is under the circum stances as they exist in this county at this time. o DREAMS HAVE FAILED. No government like that of Russia at the present time can last long.) It is based on the right of all to own the skill, the property, and the brains, of everybody else. There is no incentive t;> individual effort, fliere is no use in trying to excel,1 jecause all of tho results from incli-1 t'idual effort will go to enrich the jther follow just as much as it wil! the individual who is doing tl;e work md carrying out the plans. No such ;hing was intended. it existed In the brains of Lenin md his lieutenants and there i nly. [ 't all came out of the wild dreams j >f crazy fanatics. It is contrary to umian nature and ordinary common ;cnse. At the present time Russia s a bankrupt state. Ii is faiied with amine ridden and disease ruined poo >le. There is no order or anything hat it worth while except the regime of Lenin, the crazy. The Russian people are bound to ise in their might which has been ;ept down 'by fear mostly. They are lue for a change and they will bring t finally. In their minds the leaders ?f the present government already mow that a change is coming and oming fast. The time has alreadv oiiio when they must bow down to >ther countries and do as they say in >rder to obtain the very necessaries >f life. What Russia has tried and failed o do, other nations may sometime ry; but they too will fail. It is not n the nature of humans to want to k-orlc all of their lives for the comnon good of those who will not k'orlc and accomplish anything. Take omc men and give them money ay aft?i' day to live on, and never no lick of work would you get 0111 f them. There are not enough competent masters in Russia to oversee the work of so many peons. Thus it will be in any land. The dreams of these fanatics hav-> failed to come true. They are now on their last legs in the trial. They cannot succeed but will in the end be driven from their places of great, power and the simple people will rule Russia as Democratic' countries are ruled over the world. ?o , Lazlnes$ often leads to larceny. We pity the man or boy either who is so lazy he will not work; and yet we see that he wants to spend money like other people, wear good clothes and visit the seaside or the! mountains. He is a bad makeup who is like this. Such a one may wind up in jail. Q * . MARKETS Grain. Chicago September wheat closed ai $1.17, a loss of 7 3-4c for the week. Dairy Products.
