If such; absence is due to any other than J providential cause or causes, or to such cause or causes as would seriously endanger the health of flic child, such parent or guard ia< must) be notified to appear betoiv the nearest Magistrate at a special timeto show why he or she should not be punished for his or her neglect: Provided. That the Attendance Officer may, in his or her discretion, ex cuse any absence. A full record of such excused absences, together with the reason therefor, shall he filed monthly with the County Superintendent. of Education. ? 9. Powers of Attendance Officers?Records.?That all Attendance Officers shall have the right to require a birth certificate or an affidavit as to the age of any child in his or her district or territory. They shall have the further right to visit any place of employment to ascertain if any child between eight and fourteen years of age is employed. These officers shall keep a record of all notices served and case* prosecuted, and shall make a full report of them once a month to the County Board of Education. ? 19. Jit a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof before any Magistrate, be fined not less than five nor more than ten dollars, or be imprisoned not less than five not more thun ten days. The children of parents unable to purchase the necessary books for attendance upon a public school shall, upon the order of the County Board of Education, be furnished these books out of the Ipublic funds of their district. The County Board of Education shall be the competent judges of such cases. .. ? 13. Prosecution forVioIation.? The farmers in this section are busy curing and selling the golden weed. Messers Lewis Moore and Frank Spivey from Moultrie Ga., are spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Moore. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Harris spent last Sunday with relatives at Adrian Rev. Waterman M. Booth filled his regular appointment at Poplar last Sunday. Everybody in this neighborhood are enjoying fairly good health at present. So let's everv one woa* a smile. It makes us look a lot better and I am sure we will leel better.
