spending two weeks in Conwav, left
last Sunday afternoon for Marion, S.
C.. where he is holding a term of the
criminal court this week. Judge
Memminger will return here in about
three weeks to hoM the Spring term
of the court of Common Pleas.

George, a New York negro, went to |
Danville, selling Black Star Steamship
stock. Several negro preachers
opened their pulpits for him to explain
his plan. Then the state stepped
in and George went to jail, on r
charge that was prohibited.
Should it fail as many of the, negro
leaders of America predict, and
should Garvey and his African government
be forced to the wall, it may
mean the loss of hundreds of thousands
of dollars that negroes in every
I part of country have invested in the
various phases of his enterprise.
Garvey, a 33-year-old native of Jamaica,
and his followers see no possibility
that their plans to revise may
fail. Gravcy thus lines up the situa:
