Clemson College.?The Division of Entomology reports that the boll vecvi! has advanced into new territory all along the front line. Greatest idvances have been made along the ower half of the line with rather 'aid movement through Berkeley, lamberg, and Orangeburg Counties. The weevil has not so far been found n Berkeley County, nor in Orange)urg County, except in the lower edge iround Branchville. The new 1 boll weevil line made lecessary by these advances starts in it the lower corner of Edgefield Couny where Edgefield and Aiken touch he Savannah River, and runs through Viken, Norway and Holly Hill in Ormgeburg County, thence through Berkley County between Oakley anil donck's Corner and touches the coat;t it Bulls Bay. ' Washington.?More than 300 cases of influenza were reported to the pub ; lie health service this week by 14 | States, but the disease has ent vpoM?_ ied the proportions of an epidemic in any State. The service announced that the cases reported generally were of a mild type. States reporting and the numbers in each follow: Alabama 20, Arkansas 14, California 51,, Florida 22, Georgia 23, Kansas 31, Kentucky 13, Louisiana 3, Maine 5, Massachusetts 42, Montana 4, New Jersey 20, New York 31, Washington 8. "The fact that the cases are of a mild type would seem to be a hopeful s'gn," said Surgeon General Rupert Blue. "However, it is too early to make a forecast with any degree of certainty. "The wisest thing to do is for every person to avoid contact with those affected, to keep out of crowds and i crowded places, to be on the lookout j for the first symptoms, and when these appear go directly to bed and summon a physician. "City and state authorities should by no means t!tke it for granted that influenza will not return. Every sanitary precaution should he rigidly enforced until the danger has entirely passed." o?
