S. 1 Wannamaker open the meeting of the American Cotton Association by reading a personal letter from President Wilson in which he commenced its ; excellent purpose and said 1 confidently look for helpful results from it. President Wannamaker launched at once into organization and called on each State to appoint committees. Welcoming addresses were made by Mayor Bcrhrman, Governor. Pleasant of Louisiana and others and in replying in an eloquent address after which he was compelled to rise and respond to continued applause Thomas J. Shacnleford of Athens, Ga., chairman o.' the finance committee declared that "whoever solves the problem of a fair price for cotton has solved all the other problems of the South, Commissioner of Agriculture, J. J. Brown of Georgia was named by President Wanamaker chairman of the crmmittee on recommending a minimum price for cotton. This committee will report Tuesday morning and predictions vary as to tho figure that will be fixed. Georgia delegates are talking 37 J-2 cents wiiiie Texas is shooting as high as ISO cents. He showed Europe must have prompt credits to avoid calamity and is willing to take American cotton at a fair price.
