JULY 2 4, 1919 Friendship is often more valuable than hard dollars. n When will Conway have a tobacco stem me ry ? o A character that is good is the best and strongest recommendation that a man can have in this world. o It is said that clothes do not make the man, but how about the woman ? They make the woman and break the man. o ,As the fruit crop is extremely short this year in Horry County, we advise the fanners to save all of vrhat there is. <> A good reputation is hard to win and on the other hand is easily lost. o Disputes we get into have to be worked out in their own good time the same as other things that we have to do. o The crops of Horry County, already in fine condition as a general rule, were again blessed, over most of the territory, with good show ers last week. o Conway needs much that she does not have. Paved streets are among the many hut none just now are more important. o Save the seed for next year's crops from the finest and largest plants this year. This is the way to keep improving the quality of your crops from year to year. o Crops are better in this part of the State than they are in other sections of either South Carolina or North Carolina, according to reports brought in from various sources. The tobacco grower who lakes the pains to handle and cure his leaves in the best way will secure the highest prices for the weed. He will make the most from his crop. CASE COMPROMISED. The case of B. J. Vereen against A D. Jones concerning the attachment of a Ford automobile which it is alleged had been driven by one of the employees of Mr. Jones in a careless manner so that a calf belonging to the plaintiff had been killed. The man who was driving the machine at the time ran away soon after it occurred. The case was brought in the court of Magistrate W. H. Chestnut and was continued for one reason ox another for some time. The case was set for trial last Men flay and before the trial, the parties agreed and the case was compromised. The defendant did not admit that his car had run over the calf, but he could afford to settle for a reasonable amount rather than lose valuable time over the trial in the vO \. . 0 SALE UNDER EXECUTION.
