DEATH OF J. B. SINGLETON The death angel visited our home t>n May 1, 1919, and took from us our loving brother. He suffered \vith heart trouble 11 months and 2 weeks. All that loving hands, kind physicians and kind friends could do ] could not stay the icy hands of , death. We mourn nob as those who have no hope. We have every evidence that with him all is well. He ate a light supper about six o'clock^Tahd started to take a bath about eight o'clock, and he took severe pressure in his chest and heart with which he died in about 15 minI utes. Berlin.?Thc.vc seems to bo a widespread demand on the part of the Germans that efforts bo made to induce America to enter into a sort of limited alliance with nnrmanv .*r take protectorate over this country, giving Germany financial aid and protection and taking in return the lion's shares of the profits of the country's industrial activities. This sentiment which first made its appearance last December, appers to have become stronger recently. Privy Councillor Berkmann, formerly a partner in the German Edison companies and one of the largest electrical magnates here, suggests a German-American partnership with America the senior and controlling partner. ?
