CONWAY MOTOR CAR CO., i ma SPANISH INFLUENZA 1 AGAIN BREAKS OUT With a Start of Nine or Ten Cases Lasl Week in Conway ' - * ' MOVING PICTURES FORBIDDEN FRIDAY Number of Cases Here and in Vicinity Increased By First of Week. Spanish Influenza broke out again on new subjects bust week. People had been wanted through the newspapers, that in accordance with past experience, the epidemic might break out again: and in fart that having the disease would only make one immune for a period not more than eight months or a year, and maybe in some instances not as long as that. Hut the disease had evidently spent its force and the schools were all opened and the churches took back their congregations, ami the moving pictures and the soda fountains opened as usual again. On last Friday it was paid there were nine new cases of the disease in Conway. There was a case report etl in the home of Rev. Paul T. Wood, and later Mr. Wood took the disease himself, a young son of Mr. W. J. Smith was ill and it was reported that the disease had broken out In the family of Mr. T. T. Elliott. Last Friday night the moving picture show was closed again and there was talk of closing the soda fountains beginning with Monday, but up to Monday afternoon this step had hot been taken. The number of new cases of the disease increased by the first of this week according to reports going about the community. On Monday it was said there was a total of nineteen or twenty cases in Conway ami vicinity. o STOCKHOLDERS' M E ET1N G. THOMPSON, President of Conway Bargain House, adv?5t?11-28. ? tr- . , I BED CROSS APPEAL. An earnest appeal has come to us for a final settlement of the amount Horry County plevlged to the Second Red Cross War Fund. This we cannot do until all the unpaid pledges have been settled. We take this method of asking those who have not paid his pledge to settle same at once. Those pledges have been due since Oct. 1st. Every dollar of this amount is badiy needed in the Red Cross Work, and should be paid without any further delay. The fact that actual fighting has ceased shoidd not oivo 0 - . v ungual- UIC idea that ho has a right to cancel an honest obligation along this line. It is a fact that Heel Cross work will be necessary in the war stricken coun' tries for many months yet. If these pledges are not paid in fuM it will be a serious reflection on our County and on the individual who pledged and did not pay, if he is able to do so. If he is able to pay and refuses to do so, "a slacker" should be his brand. We ask that all Councils of Defense assist us in getting Horry County in the 100 per cent, class; see those who have not paid, and if they refuse to pay, please send in their cards so they can be filed away with our other war records. Respectfully, Second Red Cross War KWd, 13y C. H. Snider, Treas. -o W. D. Grainger was among the men coming into Conway on business last week. o STRAYED TO MY PLACE.
