They are say ring that if potato consumption is not increased marked i ly within the next few weeks millions i of bushels will rot, the wheat-savinir effort will not be wholly successful, and farmers may not plant c* no ugh ' potatoes this year. This nation-wide effort is the open ! ing phase in a whirlwind drive to awaken the country to the necessity of saving the surplus potato crop. As it means also a saving of wheat, the combined forces of the Food Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture have undertaken jointly to urge these important campaigns Now that the potato crop is being moved and the prices on this product are falling to a wheat level, the ne:essity for cooperation of all Federal and State forces in a nation-wide potato campaign is imperative. Some of the one-teacher schools re- s ceiving aid from this fund paid over fifty dollars, per month, salary but in ^ the future this cannot be done. ^ r For good reasons the State Board j of Education has changed the time of helping with the State Aid on school buildings?the building must be inspected and approved by County Superintendent before the State Aid is f given. Sixty per cent, of the state. *1 building aid is still available so it will '>C. perfectly safe for any community f go right ahead with its building plans (if they comply with the law) with the expectation of getting State and County Aid.
