fomt SENATE ACTS QUICKLY I AND UNANIMOUSLY ? Washington, Dec. 7. With less! than an hour's debate, the Senate to- j day passed the resolution declaring; war on Austria-Hungary. The resolution was adopted by the Senate unanimously, 74 to 0. Senators Gronna, of North Dakota; Novris, of Nebraska, and Vardantan, of Mississippi, who voted against the German war declaration, supposed the resolution. Senator LaFollette, :>f Wisconsin, left during the speechniolrimn on#! #1 wl Tint f!ist his VOte. o VOLUNTEERS WANTED. Selecting; registered men for Military Service is one of the most important duties now before our people. The Local Boards throughout the country are being called upon to classify all registered men in one of five classes. The information upon which this is to be done is obtained from :: long series of questions called a Questionaire which must be filled in tv every registered person and filed with the Local Board within sever, days of its date. This means that every registrant fcr I lorry County, except those ar, trally in service in Camps, must fill out their Questional'res. This is a very formidable undertaking for n great many of the registered persons who must answer the Questionaires. The government recognises this fact mud has called for legal advisory volunteers from the lawyers and clerical advisory volunteers from the laymen to aid those persons unaccustomed to writing to fill in properly their list of questions. There is no doubt that all the members of the Bar at Conway will volunteer to advise free upon the proper method ol filling in Questionmires; but it would be too much to ask that they do the clerical work filling in themselves. In order to save as much time and expense and to give every willing person a chance to ho!p, j The Local Bdard has asked for lay J volunteers from all parts of the Coun-1 t> to a'd registrants in filling out their Questionaires. The Local Board ( promises to see that every group of I volunteers for this purpose in any part of the County receives full instructions personally by someone com petent to direct them. At rangements will be made by some member of the Bar at Conway to attend at any point in the County to give such instructions. And a volunteer corps of clerks are expected to lie at Conway so that the large enrollment at this place can be taken care of. Those who wish to volunteer to fill j out Questionaires may write to J. A.I IVicDermott, chairman of the Local! I * 1 I* _ \ A _ _ A 1_ ^ ^ i>oai ii, ior uirecuons as in now 10 proceed. This is a Very important mattrr, as tho correct filling in of the Questionaires will give classification to the registrants. The Local Hoard <b sires above everything- to do exact justice in making classification, undo; the ru'es and regulations for carrying out the Selective Service Act; nnd.j consequently, they desire to have the Questionaires filled cut in evesv cum fully and correctly. 9 TODDVILLE THHNCJS.
