The only announcemnet Secretary Daniels has made of the conference so i far is that they concern very grave subjects. As usual, all information cf the ex- i act nature of the conference was with held, but as might be supposed, much of it concerned measures to combat the submarine campaign. It was said that bearing in mind always the danger of over-optimism, the progress being made by the combined fleets was more than merely encouraging and that the participation of American ships had brought very favorau.v. comment from the foreign officials.
