Tile above is the program of the ? commencement exercises of the Horry County Teacher-Training Clas>, and was given in tne auditorium oi the Burroughs Graded School on the morning of Monday, July 2nd. Tin e vent came at the close of eight months of faithful and successful effort on the part of Miss Agnes D. Richardson, and the general excel- ! lence of the several members evi- j I'triced the satisfactory character of1 the year's work. The papers offered ' were thoughtful discussions of practical problems and were delivered in ' an exceptionally pleasing manner. The song-groups and instrumental solos were we^l selected and well ren dered,. and added greatly to the va| riety and attractivnesa of the enteitainment. The fact that the dresses, worn by the class were made by them as a part of their courses in Domestic Arts has received favorable comment and as these dresses were exceeding-< ly attractive and in excellent taste,, the commentation was well deserved. Addresses by retiring Superintendent S. H. Brown, and by Supt. P. W. Bcthea formed an interesting feature r?f thrt nroirnim. To the.si> irontle men was due the securing of the Training School for the County, and they outlined the effort necessary to this result and offered congratulations upon the good already accomplished. The Teacher Training Class in Horry has proven a marked success. It has enrolled thirty members; five of whom have been granted first I grade county certificates as well as State certificates, and one has had the grade of hers raised from third i o second, while a number of others will complete their course within a few weeks. It is the present object of Mr. Buliock, the incoming County Superintendent, and of Miss Richardson, to eliminate within the next few years third grade certificates, and in time to make the possession of first-grade LES WARES H3USE WILL OPEN JULY 1 DJN'T MISS MEETING OA N) YOU WILL GET THE HIG B i.GCO LOOKS BETTER, A HOUSE. os to ioave your teams and a pit water for both man and bt FjR EVERYBODY AND C( TiiE PEOPLES WAREHOU! iFIED. I have seen dozens of nervous, run-down people who were ailing all the while, certificates universal throughout the county. It may be interesting in tliis connection to note the fact that of the eight first-grade certificates awarded at the last teachers' examination six were secured bv members of the Teacher-Training Class. The prospects for growth in this work are excellent. Miss Richardson's efforts in the matter are unremitting, and by means of visits and nddi esses, and through the help of the press of Conway the importance of the new work has been brought before the people. Moreover the members of the class are thoroughly enthusiastic and are doing good work in interesting new members. The progressive character of the Burroughs Graded School will react upon the work of the training class. The school has this year added an eleventh grade and a Domestic Science Department, and during the past fall an addition was made to the building, one attractive room of which houses the Training School. Altogether the class coming together in September has every prospect of a successful and happy years' work. ? i m ? ?. Finding the horse grazing in the woods they took possession of the animal under the chattel mortgage and brought him to Conway. Later the man who claimed to be the owner of the horse prosecuted the parties for larceny of live stock, although it seems to be well-known and not denied that the horse was taken under a bill of sale.
