Conway has never clone it. , , ?o? * ; tise and you will see them gradually taking back seats and giving up their places to others who have the fr.prgy to push then- business. 4*C. o 2 * , i If the war does not last too long, it will benefit this country more than anything else has done in fifty years. years. ^ j .*? ? ; 1 " Jlo The United States will benefit by J the experience of others in the great war. There is no '''ling what the; present situation v. wuld have been if ; this country had not obtained the i benefit of the experience and advices of the allies who have been engaged in the war already for about three yea is. Everybdoy has a different way of j doing things different from the other man; therefore it is just as well to expect to be criticised, because every man thinks his way is the best! way, no matter where it may lead him. Men who come to this section from other parts of the country say that Conway is destined to become a large town. One reason is her geographical position. By getting together the business men of this section could bring tbis result at an ear ly date. If you have the best selected stock in the world and the best regulated store in the town; you are playing a losing game if you fail to let the people know it by the judicious use of advertising methods to bring these features to the knowledge of the people. One of the first things to do in any eon test is to find out what is behind the actions of the other fellow. Kim out what he is aiming at. You can. not depend on his word for it ever> time. o Since we seem to have here m man or set of men who are willing t< devote a portion of their time to i Chamber of Commerce in such a waj i. L . il. . >i ?a vu m: ui voiut iu utc iwiiunujiiiy suppose we employ a goon man t< etay with us a year and show u: what we ought to do after first or ganizing the business men of th< county. What this section of South Carolina noe<ls now to bring it to the attention of the outside world, more than anything else has ever done; is another railroad line placing Conway and Horry's other towns in quicker connection with other parts of the State. The Atlantic Coast line has a branch to Aynor, S. C., with the ether terminus at Myrtle Beach. The heads of that great company evidently sec no pay in extending this short line to Marion, S. C., or else they would have made this extension h ng ago. Kxtending this short line on to Marion would take away a large proportion of the business that their other line between Conway and Chadbourn is now doing. From what we can see their line to Chadbourn coum won auoru to lose a great portion of its present business and stid be one of the best paying- local lines that the Atlantic Coast Line has in the whole country. Some definite steps ought to be taken by the business men and citizens of this county to obtain another railroad line which would open up to business one of the greatest sections we have in the < runty. Then after this has been done Conway will occupy the position she already deserves with competition in railroad transportation, and a water line with a cheap water transitu tation to all parts of the country. Conway at this time has no live Chamber of Commerce, such as the town ought to have. Let us endeavor to organnize one' as soon as possible and then keep it busy working for Conway and Horry County. o Notice of I'inal Discharge.
