I THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 1C1G llappy is he vho finds his pleasure ir. his daily work. i . .. o Most of the advice we give goes into one ear and out at the other, and it never sticks. o Common sense to the amount of one grain would improve the actions of some people. ? He who would succeed must plan and then d 'ire; and he must not shun hard labor and intense application. o It is a mistake to look for contentment from something entirely outside cf yourseilf. o President Wilscon will succeed himself as chief magistrate of the nation, and de deserves it. He has made a president for the whole people. o No matter how wealthv n man mav "be he needs to have some useful occupation. His life is wasted and unhappy without it, though it may not appear so to you. o Skirt factories this year are having the time of their lives, for owing to the shortness of prevailing styles, it takes almost no cloth at ail to make one. If Theodore Roosevelt were president of the United States he would find this present war problem quite different fiom the Spanish-American ex perience. -HI The man of leisure appears to enjo> life more than he who has to labor every day, but this is only a mistaken idea. Onl\ the useful man enjoys life. o vn.*u:XL;_ _ * hi mis worm seems reaiiv as good us it ought to he, hence the desire of the majority of men and women to try to improve in every way they can, o Men are making two blades of grass grow where only one grew before; and the fashions in skirts this year take only one yard of cloth where two were required before. o You can think over national problems until you get dizzy in the brain ami still they are unsolved; so you taay as well go ahead to devote your attention to the smaller problems which bother you in your own particular sphere and this will be apt to profit you a great deal more.
