functions and being the general
handy-man of the ladies and dead
beats of the community; only to find
when it was forever too late that he

Who staid in Ms office and devoted his
talent and soul to serving those who
wished to employ him. The man who
outstripped him had no time for the
things which the other threw his time
away at.

One of the greatest misfortunes of
the farmers of Horry County to-day
is the practice they arc following (by
necessity) of spending the proceeds
of their crop before those crops are
raised. They arc compelled by force
of circumstances to give a mortgage
on the crops in the beginning of the
year for the supplies they will use
during the Spring and Summer while
cultivating the crops. By the timeharvest
comes they are as apt to be
in debt more than the crops will pay
as any other way. It is an unfortunate
condition that we hope they will
learn to grow out of some time.

OBITUARY
In Remembrance of Little Alice B
Mills.
On December 23, 1915, the <leath
angel visited our home and took from
us the light of our home, little Alice
B. Age years, 9 months and 24
days . She was a shining light in her
homo and loved by all and always had
a smil? for Papa. She leaves Father,
Mother, six brothers and throe sisters
to mourn their loss. The funeral services
were conducted by our pastor,
Rev. Scoggins and her remains laid to
rest at Centenary cemetery.

Mama's baby girl,

Upon reading the attached Affilavit
of the plaintiff; and it appealing
that the infant defendants, Fanlie
Spain, Willie Bellamy, Henry
Bellamy, Joseph Bellamy, Gracie Belamy,
cannot after due diligence be
'ound within this State, and that the
action has been brought for partition
and sale of real estate in this County
and State in which said absent infant
lefendants claim an interest:
On motion of plaintiff, it is ordered
.hat A. E. Wait be and he is hereby
appointed as guardian ad litem for
said infant defendants and is hereby
authorized and required to defend
this action in their behalf, unless
?aid infants, or some one in their behalf
within five days after the service
of this order, which service shall be
as herinafter specified for, shall apply
for and procure the appointment
of some suitable and competent per
son to act as guardian in their behalf.
It is further ordered that this order
shall be served on said infant defendants

Baptist Foreign Mission Society:
