THURSDAY, NOV. 18, 1915 Information is the stuff of which knowledge is made. ? ?o Putting up with the disappointments and drawbacks in this life is only a part of the game. o Practice does not make perfect, for there is nothing perfect. It only gets you a little nearer perfection and that is all you can call it. o Some men and women go through life fully believing that the limit has been reached in the way of improvement. They not only believe, they know, that it is useless to try to get out of the old ruts. o No matter how long you have been running a certain business or how long you have been engaged in a cer tain work?there are ways in which you can improve it, new things you can learn about it, short cuts you can discover in order to do your work better and quicker and make better results for those who give you their patronage. gr~ ? ... , , & o One reason given for the low grade of nearly all of the tobacco produced this year is the fact that the farmers as a general rule failed to use the right amount of fertilizers. They were afraid of low prices for tobacco and cotton and did not want to risk too much ih the start. fm .. q . ? First af all the Horry County Fair Corporation should see about procuring the grounds in the right place and its own buildings; or else prepare suitable grounds around other buildings that are furnished free. It would help a lot to have the brick bats removed and the holes filled up for con* venience in walking. It does not pay to go half-way measures in the fight against evil. Anything once started on its way tends to gain momentum and go faster and faster the farther away it gets. If a man starts downward ho goes down faster and faster the longer he stands in the way to destruction; if In* decides to do good he goes faster and faster toward high ideals the longer he keeps his eye on them and proceeds toward them. The least little tendency toward evil will gain strength as it goes and once the brow of the hill is turned there is nothing that can be done except to plunge headlong into the bottomless abyss. While it is yet time it is best to call a halt while slowing up is possible, lielore long it may be too late.
