been away ever since filling this new

The farmers have been bringing j

market for several weeks now. Some
of them are as fine as ever grew in
the county.
G. II. Gillispie has as fine a crop of
tobacco on his farm near town as can
be found in the county. The crop is
now being cured. He has fine land
and always raises fine crops.
Hon. James Norton, of Mullins,
Editor of the Messenger, spent some
time in Conway last week, and he attended
the funeral of his brother, Dr.
Evan Norton.

There are too many laws on the
statute books today that were not intended
to be enforced when they were
placed there. This is one thing which

By mistake in our last issue, in a
news item relating to the Boris Tc

Casey is the efficient manager, the
name ot Mr. Uasey was spelled "Caskey."
In such ways will the types
frequently get mixed up without
rhyme or reason, but we hope Mr.
Casey will pardon us. Everybody

of the paper doubtless knew whose
name was meant.
The card of J. W. Sparks announcing

from the paper on account of this office

Robert W. Lawrence of Charleston
passed through Conway one day last
week on his way to visit friends and
relatives at his former home in the
Pee Dee section. . Uncle Robert is
now nearly eighty years of age and
is as hearty and sound as a man of
much younger years.
