The price of land in Horry County is constantly going up. w ^ + + ^ ' It is not work but worry that always plays havoc with the health of men and women. * * * * "The least one worries at the heat the better they will be able to withstand its effects. * * * * Listen at some people and they will make you believe there is absolutely no good thing in the world. * * * * Conway wants to spend twice as j much a year as she does now in the j improvements of the streets and side- , walks. * * * * According to some this old world is very bad and rapidly growing! worse. We have never believed this statement. ?'-? *, - . yr'v * * * * * A true enemy takes advantage of everything that comes in his way to injure. This is one of the characteristics of Satan himself, the enemy of all mankind. \ * * * * The man who looks on the bright sides some of the time and not always on the dark, is to be preferred to the one who sees everybody and everything they do through blue glasses. * * * Strive to raise the very best crops * that it is possible to produce under the circumstances of your case, is the advice that we would give to each farmer in 1 lorry County. * * * * The pleasure that follows a shower of rain is enough to prove the advisability of purchasing a street sprinkler and using it on the dusty streets at least twice every day. * M * * mi. ^ l r i l- - C* l? i? i rs j tie riK'rniMM s 01 i.'ic mate aiiM < ongressional campaign parties show by their looks that they are suffering from the burdens of travel, and the intense hot weather that has followed them ever since the campaign started. * * * The I rish potato crop of this year turned out thousands of dollars for the farmers of-this section of the State. Persons who are not very strong;' are as apt to live long as others who NN* are robust. The reason is not hard , ? , # ^ .to to find, for it is the different habits that the weak pert on has to follow, that makes the difference. A strong |( man feels that he can accomplish any- ls thing, that he can trespass time and time again on his reserve strength N;l without danger to himself, and wakes 011 up when it is too late to save his gen- 1( oral health from the inevitable break ()' down. The weak man of necessity m has to form careful habits of life, lie 10 | gets into the habit of exerting him-i1,1 I self only within bounds that he knows af to be safe, lie cannot afford to dissipate or keep late hours, he cannot safely overeat, nor can lie keep hours , that are either long or late. These habits which he is obliged to form if ti ! he would live at all, result in length dially invit Every Lady ling his days until often he will outre the stronger man. * * * * 1 White men all over the country are ore and more seeing the absolute 'cessity of keeping the races separe in all of the affairs of life. Re- ? ntly a white man was locked up in ie town guard house, and it was hut t short time before a crowd of white en were speaking of the occurence t no uncertain terms. It did not j atter to them that the white man lis found living and violating the | w with the very same negroes with } horn he was locked up. This seem- ^ t to be far from their thoughts. It as the fact that a white man, a | ember of the Caucasian race had ^ en locked up in the same cell with negro man and a 'negro woman. Al- , ost everywhere there are laws proding for the strict segregation of j e white and colored races on thc!v I * dins, in the residence SectiohB of 1 e towns and cities, and almost every ilk of life now one will find the ( lites and blacks separated, either v ' means of an ordinance or a state 1< v. or by private authority in some n siness or enterprise where the own-11; has the right to separate them in j wnv rr * * * * ti Just how some readers understood n recent article in this paper to mean u it the Horry Herald would change present ownership, we are unable understand. The only thing that ls said in the paper was an article zing information that the median- ( d department of the paper would S ve a new manager. It was no k lere stated that the ownership of h Ei paper would be changed in any | b rticular. It was therefore a sur- j s: ise to the editor when one or two o iders called at the ofRce last week 1 v. d stated that they had been inform-I tl that the paper had either changed J nds or would change hands in a u; >rt time. Those who called Artct i h ide this statement did not say that | ly saw the statement in the paper, L each said that some other person! 1 seen it in the paper and told thenl! :>ut it. Wo can hardly believe that ( nebody circulated this report with j M leliberate aim to injure. This plan 41 s some times been selected by some I w Dplc who do not know enough to sc 1 that such a plan would fail of its ' u] ject. However, the persons who b< culated such a report may have tl ird it. or thought they knew it, we tl / ? illio .. 1 *v \..iin uuii^v ui saying uiHi v\ i paper will still remain under the'c( -no ownership that has controlled i bfor tho past fifteen years, and there p. no intention on the part of the a, nor to part with it, or with the ed- j )r rial management of it. a o * * * * (, i f( :\d rs tiiio nva\?s p We trust that each reader of this j ti pei* will appreciate our efforts to | b /e them the news week by week, j it 11 printed and on good paper, andjd plain every-day English, so that tl erybody may understand. And if j s? ch reader will appreciate it enough ii send at once a statement of any a portant happening* in the eommun- d r, so that it may appeal* in the next' h uo and be read by other people in i w <tant communities, it will result inirI iterial help to us and to our read-|r s. As a general rule the people'is o tired of frivolous things which an p dinary man would laugh at when a en in print. This fact therefore t > want our correspondents to reminder when writing us a news letr. Judge whether the occurrence is suliicb nt importance to he of incest to other people. If it, is not it useless to send it in. Avoid also e statement of something' of a prite nature that would be best left t of print, on aeeount of the effect ' would have on the minds of others, that would probably result in makg someone mad. But if the occurnec has a news value try to get it ? to us and we will try to see that it <1 pears in the paper. s I i Only One "BROMO QUININE" tret the genuine, call lor lull name, I.AXA* VK DROMO QUININE.
