You mdy marvel at the high price of real estate at this time in tbi* county, hut it is nothing to compare with what the price will be ten year* from this time. The price of lano in this county will never go dowi. again. ?O? All too often a man's residence where he has lived for years and perhaps raised a family, burns down over his head. It may happen on the farm in the country, or it maj happen in the crowded town. Or a man's Store or shop may catch cn fire and he will loose thereby the thing* which he has accumulated for a long number of years, things which in his estimation cannot be replaced satisfactorily. One man's house may catch on fire in a town or city and the flames spread through block after blook and destroy the homes of all of his neighbors. It is a calamity wherever it happens. It is a thing that should be guarded against in eyery possible way. When yon come to think of it, every case of this kind except about one out of every hundred is the result of pure carelessness. The family and the servants all retire to sleep leaving a hot fire burn i? ii i i tng in tae range m tne Kiicijen, or i n the bitting room or in the parlor where the daughter of the house has been entertaining some young man until a late hour. This fire rolls down on the wooden floor, or the tore or range gets too hot and the Wooden walls behind it ignite. This is pure carelessness. Sometimes rats are said to set houses on fire. How do they doit? It is said that they find IttM matches lying abont and they o^ry them to their nests. This it earelessnees too and of the worst kind. No house where matches are allowed to be around on the bureaus 'raw * *- *TB mSI. * \ . - *v*>. % - . SJrf ' j? ?- >. ? lr 13 ' v- 4 * . Then aga:n, the family will allow waste materials ot various kinds to remain in piles in the closets and oack alleys of the place. Every once and again quanities are added to the piles When ever a small fire takes place it fin 's suchreadv and intlumable material that it is impossible to put it out although discovered in time. Again, in building the house, an eiiort is made to do it as cheaply as possible. The fiues aud the chim aeys are erected of the fewest bricks possible, laidon [edge and not flat as they ought to be. Where the space between the stove or heater and the wall is rather close, the added expense of a piece of tin to protect it is avoided. All of these things will lead to disastrous fires. Such things have lead to them in many cases, and often whole cit es have been wiped out of existence. Then in the face of such danger the people generally ought to learn to be morecare?al about their habits and practices, about the house, especially in places where there is no water supply and an inadequate fire company or equip i. ? ?1 1 - " uitjul ior Hunting tire. v . ?+ 0 Items From Pleasant Meadow.
