CORONER HOLDS INQUEST Ilad Been Attending a Shooting Match,-No Previous Difficulty Between the Parties,?An Inquest Held and Several Witnesses Examined. The only killing, reported here as takingplace on Christmas Day, was one at Bucksville. Abram Blain was shot and killed while in a friendly tussle with Frank Williams, . the latter having a gun in his hands / at the time, Tho party composed of s jveral colored men had been at1 ending a shooting match near J3ickivil'o and were returning home along the road, and those of them who had guns were shooting at trees :ir d bushes along the road. Abram Blain just after Frank Williams had fired, approached Frank Williams, and n the meantime Williams had - - ? % i piaoetl anoiner sneii in nia guu, i which was unbreached at the timej the other grabbed hiin. The guu I went ofT with fatal results. Following is the testimony of Iwo of the principal witnesses, at the inquest, held by Cordner V, D. Johnon who went to the scene on the iollowing day. Geo D Floyd being dulv sworn says.1 that on Dec. 25th, 1012, he and Jessie Spain, Root. Williams, Wm Buck, and John H. Williams were on the Bucksvillo and Port Harrelson road, that Abram Blain and Frank Williams were a little behind the other boys playing with a gun and this stemed to be a friendly play. I heard Frank sav "Look out Abrains, this gun is loaded." I then looked ofT. T heard the gun fire and then I looked back and saw Abram Blain fall. Abram' Blaiu dropped down on his knees and caught bis breast and fell over on his face. (signe3) George D. Floyd. j Jessie Spain being duly sworn says, that on December 25th, 1912 he and Abram Blain, Robert Williams, Wm. Buck, George Floyd, John H. Williams, were walking along the road leading from Bucksville to Port Harrelson, Abram Blain and Frank Williams were engaged in a friendly tussle. Frank Williams had a gun. When I looked back I saw that the gun Mas unbreached, and Frank Williams was saying "Go back this gun has a shell in it. I saw the gun fire and Abram Blain fell. She leaves a 'husband, three sons and one daughter, besides a hoit of friends to mourn their loss, but we hope our loss is her eternal gam. She lived a quiet and peaceful life. Hyman received a telegram on Christmas da}' stating that their young nephew, 10uward Sanders, died very suddenly of cerebro spinal meningitis. Last week the newspapers contained news items concerning an epidemic of this disease t hen raging in a small* town in Georgia and it was stated that by means of a rigid quarantine, and the giving of an ami-toxin the situation hao been brought under control after many deaths and a large expense to the community. Those who read this item will do well to be careful about spreading the disease should they happen to visit a family or com munity that is afliected. Aynor Warehouse Co.
