Lust Friday November 8th wai circus day in Conway. The old reliable Jomi H Sparka Shows, greatly enlarged and improved, came back to the town and gave a day and a night performance to large crowds cacti tints. Tne show had been widely advertised, and the record that ttiia circus has made hero in T,he past, for an up-to-date performance, perfectly fair and square dealing 10 every bvxi.y, and clean and high class program from beginning to end, was sullicienl in itself lo in- 1 sure a large crowd. Bui the crowds that greeted the circus last Friday lar exceeded the number that Ihe j show had here in yeari gono by, though the patronage in the pa st \ was good. The group of performing elephants brought forth V round after round of applause. It is f not too uiucu to say that the John c H. .Sparks shows skill retained their well-earned reputation of giv ing tho greatest value for the ad- j mission fee, There was not a spec- <. tutor to leave the tents who was J not fully satisfied that his money | had been well spent. J The management of the show is well known to many friends here, having been visitors io the town for I many years. The primary purpose of our Club, of course, is obvious. It will ho of interest to know that one of our number, Mr. Williams, has been honored with the presidency of the Freshman class, and that class is possibly the largest in the History of Wofford, having about a hundred and fifteen members. The Fitting chool is essentially a part of the College, though it is in its own buildings, and is under different authorities. It has an unusually high standard for a preparatory school, and some studeuts may prepare themselves for the Sophomore class of any college in the State. A series of inter-class Basebail Raines was completed la3t week. The last, game was played by the Juniors acid Seniors, neither of which teams lost a gatno. Quite a great deal of interest was arroused. and after some very admirable playing ou both sides, the Seniors won by a score of four to two. The winners arc awarded a trophy cup.
