The Y M C A orchestra furnished tho music, and it was very pleasant, and tho ladies and the veterans are most deeply indebted to the young folks for their assistance. The program was not long, it was mainly music and the address, and then the exercises and the song at the grave. The singing of tho song The bonny blue flag by the little folks of the Sam Davis chapter of tho Children of Confederacy was especially good and worthy of note. Mrs J Ij Burch sang very sweetly the song, After tho Battle. Mrs R Lee Brunson recited with her well known force and etTeckiveness The Aftermath of Battle. The opening prayer was by Rev Harold Thomas, and the benediction by Rev R T Giilespie. Tho program wat^announced and the speaker introduced by Hon Hart well M Ayer. Tho speaker of tho occasion was Hon J W Rugsdale, formerly senator of the county. He made a very fine address, and one that was especially pleasing to the audience. Mr Ragsdaic in his addroi-3 spoke of the the antiquity of the cause of she war, of the fact that all of the States hud recognized the sameprin ui |yaio iv/i ? iiiv/ij yuv> tu vv/u u*>uwed and that South Carolina wa.-> not hot headed in declaring for secession when it seen that the liberties of the people were threatened by the federal government, and she had the right to ask for and expect the as sistance of the other States.
