C., was among the farmers visiting Conway on business recently. Noah Johnson, of Forney, was among the farmers visiting Conway on business Jast Saturday. Dr E A Sialvey, of Socastee, was among those noted on our streets on Thursday of last week. "W C Gore, of Little River, was among the new arrivals in Conway the latter part of last week. W J Singleton, of Enterprise, was among the business men visiting Conway from the country recently, Dr Chas J Epps, of the Couway Br " Drug Company, was away for several days last week on business. A M Cox, a leading farmer of the Mattie section of this county, was seen in our town for a short time one aay last weeir. J F V?reen, a prominent mercbaut and farmer of the Seashore section of Horry county, visited Conway on business one day last week. Conway is no boom town, this has been said twenty- five or thirty years ago. Since then its growth, has been ever onward and upward. Many farmers have sent us their orders for strawberry checks. J t * The C on way Hardware Company is now baring an addition made to their warehovee in the rear of their store. This has been found neccessary in ordor to acoommodate their increasing business. They wili use the addition for storage purposes. Rev. W. J, Langs ton is expected to preach at Buck Cseek next 3rd Sunday, May 19th at 11 a. m., and Saturday night before at same place. At Pleasant Plains 3 p. m. same day. and at Wampee the night following. The pastors of these churches will please announce these services in due time. The public is cordially invited to attend. In this issue appears the card of W L Bryan announcing his candidacy for reelection to the oftice of Clerk of the Court of Horry County Mr Bryan has filled this office for the past three years in a very acceptable manner. During his term of office, many of the old records and departments in the office have been reduced from a state of chaos one of exajt system. The books and records are well kept and arrdftged so that they can be found. He has made a good record. John C Spivey brought to the Herald otiice the small buancbot one of his plum trees, which contained thereon, by actual count, twentyseven young plums. The sprig measured inches in length, and it is said that the rest of the tree is full of plums in proportion. If this is any sign, the year bids fair to be a good one for fruit. The tree above mentioned grows at the resideac of MrSpivey on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Beaty Street. Messrs L R Ambrose and T B Smith are having the W R Lewis store on the corner of Main Street and 3rd Avenue repainted and generally renovated for the purpose of opening their restaurant and cafe some time in the very near future It will be well located for this sort of business, and we see no reason why it should not succeed from the very first. The upper floor of the large building will be fitted up into nice bed reoms. It is stated that a soda fountain will be put in and cool drinks served at this fountain. John Daniels, a popular salesman, has caen employed by the firm, and he will be in charge of the business as soon as it is opened. How's This?
