P JliLlSHED EVERY THURSDAY MORNING BY CONWAY PUBLISHING CO. 8JP*URIPTJON ONE DOLLAR PKK YEAR H. 11, WOODWARD. Editor THURSDAY. SEPT 14 1911 Our town authorities are certainly deserving of the thanks and hearty co-operation of every citizen in their efforts to improve the sanitary conditions of Conway and the}' are entitled to and should receive the verdict of "well done good and faithful servants"?the highest meed of prise that an appreciative public cau possibly bestow upon a public servant Mayor Little, ably assisted by Chief Ambrose and endorsed by a*proges9ive council, are putting forth their best endeavors to prevent sickness by removing the cause. % Felder cannot go to Columbia for fear of beiug arrested; .Attorney General Lyon is incompont either through ignorance of the law or the evidence and the alleged dispensary grafters, who have been knocking at the doors of the Richland court for lo, these many years! will go scott free with a nol pros., which brings in disrepute tba judiciary of South Carolina and does not give the defendants the relief demanded Poor but proud Old Palmetto State State, thy lines have indeed fallen in evil places when justice stands blind folded, the courts powerless to apply the penalties of law in cases whore crime has been committed in order that the interest of a design-' ing politician might he advanced. According to our way of thinking, nnrl IhnrA arp srnrps nf nt.hp.rs of the same opinion, the prettiest suburb of Conway has been made as "ugly as home made sin" by the building of the negro school therein. For this reason, and this reason alone, the western suburb of Conway is practically ruined as a re9isident section of a very desirable class of white home seekers. For some time past there has been a steidy and increasing demand for I uild ng lots in that section and the present denizens were gradually being forced further westward and their places supplied by others of a more law abiding character and progressive element. This condition has been recognized and appreciated by some of our people who have made investments either for present or future 'mprovement. All of that section v ould have in the near future become a very valuable par*; of Conway, contributing its share to the revenues of the municipality and expecting but little in return. But putting that school there has clogged the wheels of progross iu so far as Angio-Saxo civilization is concerned; property values have depreciated and that section has received a blow from the effects of which it will take years for it to recover. 'Tis true its a pity, its a pity it is true. No Need to Stop Work. When your doctor orders you to stop work, it staggers you. "I can't," you say.
