MARION DISTRICT CONFERENCEContinued from Page One. fd, A throng of over five hundred people were comfortably seated and all within easy range oi the speaker's voice. Not lensv. among the pleasures of the Confer nee was a boat ride down to Cox's Fei ry, on ihe Waccamaw river. Toe local entertain in ?dt com raittee secured the steamer, F. G Burroughs from the Waccamaw IjiDe for a couple of hours Thursday afternoon and look tl.o Cc?nferenc3 aud a number of our towus people ou a very enjoyable outing ThftrH were sixtv-six enrolled del elates in attendance upon the Conference bes'dos a host of visitors All but one of the twenty-one pasto *s were present. Mr \V, S. Foxworth. of Marion, was reelected Laymen's Missionary Leader for another year. In the, election of delegates to the next session of the annual Conference for Snith Carolina, Mr Albert Goldfinch of our g town received a larger vote than I anyone el-e and that ou the first g billot. This very complimentary g vote means that Mr Goldfinch will 5 be expected to go to Bennettsville g next fall for a week to meet with ? over four hundred ministers and S laymen gathered from all parts of K the State in Methodist Conference 5 assembled n Toe District Conference will meet I next year in Mullins Sundav school I work was not so largely discussed 5 in view of the announcement that a 9 District, Sunday School Conference 1 will be hi 1 I Dillon May 25--2G. S Prof W D. Poberts, of Clio, is |1 President of the Epworth League I of the district, and was expected io 5 be hero and lead a discussion on S League work. Bub unfortunately ? he was detained at home. But it n was announced that ihe District H Epworth League Conference would ij meet in Latta toward the last of June. &; A step of far reaching importance |j was the election of a Board of Min- p isterial Educa'ion. Resolutions of r thanks very complimentary to Con- a way were adopted by a rising vote. S The delegates were enthusiastic in p tneir praise oi uonway s n< spiiamy. Evideotly the members of the Con ff rence greatly ei j >ycd themselves here. Oue preacher left Friday aftern oou and drove several miles into the country to spend the night. But during the n'ght his horse managed some how to set cut, and be came stra;ght back to Conway where he was fou??d quietly grazing a'ound on Saturday. That shows what a good place Conway is when even the animals are loath to leave. 5=5 Altogether the delegates seemed to regard this Couferetce as the best yet. Conway people think that it would be a g ;od thing to have such a Conferenc? every year, but it will likely be five years or more beforo this Conference comes w back to our town. Rev A. S, D:ak, of the Presbyterian church, and Rev VV. J L?aDgs- ? ton, D. D , of the Baptist church, were introduc d to the Ooufcence soi and were frequently in attendance hai upon the sessions. to\ The Presiding Elder, Rev R.
