Light ai d Power company is very
unsatifaciory and there is an almost
unanimous kick being registered by
the patrons of th3 company. This
condition lias existed for sometime
- in Let nearly the whole life offjlhe
compary and the people have suffored
the vaxatioufi ii convenience with
a patioLcc that has been almosl
.sublime. The Her-*' is not informed
is lo who is to blame for the poor j
service given Conway by this company,
nor where the cause lay. It is
sufficient to know that it dues exist i
and that the patrons are greatly incommoded
Thev have heretofore
murmured not in hope that the
cause would be found and the evil
corrected, but it seems that their
hopes have beer, in vain and that instead
of cmdiitons being improved,
they have gone from bad to worso
and the stage has now been reached
where patience ceases to bo a virtue
and self interest demands a radical
change somewherehor somehow or
else other means for supplying artificial
light will have to be resorted
to.
The Herald has been a patron of
the c( mpauv since me lntruuuuuyu
of electric lights in Conway and always
paid its bill promptly without
question when presented yet in all
that time it has never received the
the service needed in its daily work,
because it appreciates the importance
of c ectvic ligLts to the town
both as a matte < f convenience and
as a good advertisement for our
town and county. Tho office hours
of the Herald are from 7 o'clock
in the mot ning 'till (1 o'clock in the
afternoon; yet in the morning, regardless
of weather conditions the
lights are turned cff, In the afternoon
they [.do not come on until between

hours lights are mosiiy mjtutu iu
stores, shops, other places of business
and dwelling. As a rule when
the current is on the light is oftentimes
so dim as to be worthless.
The evil is so greaLthat some business
houses have cut out electricity
altogether and installed a gasoline
system and many residences have
retujued to the use of the old reliable
kerosene lamps. There are numerous
other consumers who intend
to cut cut electric l'ghls if there is
not a change. A word to the wise
should be sullicint.
The town council should take some
steps to protect Lakeside cemetery
from the depredation of stock. A
visit to that sacred spot on a recent
Sunday showed evidence of their
presence there in a very disagreeAV.m-.!,!
