For purpose of meeting' in part the current expenses of town government of the Town of Gonway, in the State of South Carolina, for the fiscal year ""T^bogintiing October 15th Ji> 10, and to ' meet in part such other indebtedness of the said town as may become due in the said year: He it orduieed by the Mayor and Wardens of the Town of Conway in Council assembled, and by the authority of the same: Sec. 1. That no person or persons, firm, corporation or corporations, shall engage in, carry on, or prosecute any culling, trade, business, occupation or profession hereinafter mentioned, within the corporate limits of the Town of Conway at any time during the year hereafter, without first having paid said town a license or privilege tax therefor for the said year, as follows, to wit: Agents for, or dealers in pianos and organs, other than licensed merchants, $20.00 Agents for sewing machines, not over two wagons, 10. Each additional wagon, 5. Agents for, or dealers in lightning rods, 25. Agents for, or dealers in coal, Agents for, or dealers in books, maps, or other like articles, (other than licensed merchants who deal in same,) week, 5. jruoi, Agents delivering pictures, per week or fraction thereof, 10. Soc. 3. Thai tho said Town Council hereby reserves tho right to lefuso or revoke any license for any calling which may seem to it just-, and for the best interest of the said Town, Sec. 1. That any person, lirm, or corporation making any false or fraudulent return, when a return is necessary or required, under this Ordinance, upon Conviction shall he punished as hereinafter provided for the violation of lids Ordinance or any j part thereof. | Sec. 5. That whenever tho term "Dealer'' is used in this Ordinance, ! tho same shall include not only the principal, hut in his, her, or their absence, shall also include any agent, clerk, or employee, ma nay i ng the business referred to; and generally, where a license is herein imposed I upon any business, and the same is carried on or conducted by an agent, cl rk, or employee, such agent, clerk, or employee shall tie subject to the penalties imposed in this Ordinance for its violation, should the said business be carried on without taking* out such license, in the same manner as if he, she or they were the proprietor j or proprietors of said business. Any violation of this Or-! dinancc, or any part thereof, shall j subject the offender or oll'ondors, each to a line not exceeding* $100.00, j or to imprisonment with or without labor upon the public works of said Town for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days, at the discretion of the Mayor. Sec. 7. That any person or persons, lirm or corporation, or the agent, clerk or employee in chnrgo of or managing* the same, who shall engage in any calling, trade, business, m'iifnssion or occunation, upon which I ' - t t a license or privilege tax is herein imposed, or may hereafter he imposed by th > Town Council, without first having taken out a licenso thQrofor, shall, upon conviction, ho lined in the sum not exceeding $100,00, or sentenced to imprisomnout with or without hard labor upon the streets or other public works of the said Town for a period not exceeding thirty (.'10) days, at the discretion of the Mayor. Sec. tS. That each day any person, firm or corporation shall vie. late this Ordinance, or any part thereof, by reason of a failure or refusal to lake out any license heroin provided for, shall constitute a separate olTonso, subject to the penalties herein provided for. Sec. 5).
