Mrs Mary Jones died near here ' recently. She was one of the oldest inhabitants of the community. Crops are anything but promising. Heavy rains have damaged all growing crops very badly. A Mr Bowen, of New York, pass- , ed through our section recently to visit the homo of his boyhood on Lake Swamp. C F Pore, a very industrious colored farmer, lost a horse recently it is said by feeding on green oat too freely. We are glad to see Phil back at his post of duty as he is alv/ays po- , lite and accommodating. Some of our candidates for State offices are warming up a iittie. It is to be hoped that theyrt will not , sling too much mud; but, boys, turn on the light and give us facts as they , are. < We see by reading the speeches some preach prohibition, some local t option. Antitoxin A?rcntm Columbia, S C , July 1?The following appointments of State Antitoxin Agents have been announced: Conway Drug Co , Conway, S. C. ? This appointment was mcde under a law passed by the last, legislature authorizing the South Carolina State Board of Health to furnish free of charge antitoxin in all cases of diphtheria occuring within tho State. Diphtheria antitoxin is now regarded as a necessity in every case of diphtheria. It is a high priced product and the State Health Department believes that by making it easily available and free, the death K rate from diphtheria in the State will be much lower. The antitoxin is furnished uuder contract with the National Vaccine and Antitoxin Institute of Washington, D. C. Over one hundred distributing agents will be appointed under the supervision of the State Board of Health, Any physician can obtain the antitoxin without charge by applying to the nearest distributing agent. , Notice. My corn rows are 24 inches apart instead of IS making 85,000 stalks instead of 45,000, The corn is still looking line and everybody who has seen it says it is the finest they ever saw. It seems preposterous tc think of making so much corn on one acre, and really it may be, but 1 am looking forward for the greatest amount of corn ever grown on one acre in Horry county.
