The Children's Day exercises announced in the last issue of the Herald for Saturday before tho first Sunday in September has come to pass. We heartily appreciate the many corhpliments paid us by tho visiting friends who made it convenient to be with us on that occasion. The attendants of said Children's Day were abou,t five hundred in number. We will not give you a completo programme of our children's day exercises as that would likely take up too much snano in vmif - L ... . ? j uu? f (4IUUUIU paper, There were about ono dozen nice dialoguos well recited by the pupils and neighbors of the Seven Mile Academy; all of which were carried out in such elegant stylo that many compliments from tho great host of visitors were paid to both pupils and I heir teacher, Mr Bryant. After tho dialogues were all gotten olT there were about eighteen single pieces recited in contest for prizes. The first prize winner was Annio Bourne, a girl of about fourteen summers. Second brize winner was Lottie Dew. Third prize wiuuer was Dock Fleming. Several of the other speakers made a tie near the winner of the third prize. Many nice songs were sweetlv / sung and selections played by tho organist at intervals botween certain of the dialogues and single recitations.
