Court of (ieneral Sessions September Term 11)08 To the (fraud .Jury of I lorry County: Our report on the county offices, made at the May term 1908, contemplated a final report to be submitted at this term, said final report to cover such matters as had jjot been completed at the time of submitting our first report, 1st?Owing to tiie fact that the primary campaign intervened during which time we could not well do the work in the, offices and also owing to the absence of one of our members since the primary elections we have notjjeen able to complete our work. We have also given some consideration to the fact the lecent elections resulted in a change in all of the offices except those of Sheriff and Probate Judge. In view of this fact wo are convinced that the logical Lime to complete this work and institute a complete set of accounts necessary for a systematic handling of the business of tho county will be at the time of the transfers of the offices January 1st, 1909, as there will naturally be a settlement between the retiring officers and their successors at that time, the expense to the county will not be so great if taken up in connection with those settlements. 1st?Since making our last report Mr Watson, a member of this Grand Jury, has made some investigations in reference to the pension funds handled by the Clerk of Court and has made charges in regards to the sumo which do not agree with our report on this subject as made at the May term of 1908. We have reviewed the matter with Mr Watson in personal con versa-! tions with a view of accounting for the difference between us. As a result of our conference with Mr Watson we are convinced that the report|of. this committee, as made at the May term of 1!I0S, and Mr Watson's investigations to have both been thorough and to have agreed should both have been made only after a thorough auditing of the books of the County Hoard of Pensions. In justice to Mr Mishoo and all the parties interested we recomtnond that a complete auditing of the books of the County Pension Hoard be made in connection with the transfer of tho olbeo of Clerk of viiitL [llliKlfi IBB 1 Our Long Deferred Hopes About Realized.
