on Monday for moving their
books and records but waited until
Tuesday morning to begin the work.
When t ho doors were opened on
Monday many people visited the
new buildings to see how they would
look after being thoroughly cleaned

HOUSE KtlHBED.
The INcjrro Was Caujrltt in Marlon
and Brought Hack Here Friday.
On the day that Spark's circus visited
Conway, a negro woman by the
name of Lizzie Flagg, entered the
house of Mr and Mrs Waterman
Cook, near Myrtlj UoacTT, and took
quite a quantity of property, mostly
clothing and jewelry. Nearly all of
Mrs Cook's clothing was missing
when they returned home from the
show. Steps were taken to apprehend
Lizzie Flagg, who had disappeared,
Notices sent out by Marshal
Fortoscuo located her at. Marion,
S C. She was loosed up and ii N
Sessions brought her over and lodged
her in the new county jail Friday.
Most of the clothing was recovered
from her, but Mr Cook's watch she
had traded oil' for an Ingorpoll's dollar
watch and a little ''boot."

Editor Herald:---We met at our
new voting precinct, Lewisville,
Saturday 25th. There was a line
turnout of interested voters. We
elected our ofllcers to serve for the
next two years and live delegates to
the county convention. Everything
went on nicely, all hands satisfied
and no booze in it at all,
I see The Field has asked the
(juestion: "Who does the new court
house building belong to?" Hast
February when we found out that
we could not hold court in it, in Mr
Spivey's absence, some of us up here
decided that it was his property,
and we have no reason to change
our opinion yet. So lets make it
unanimous and beg the town of Conway
to give us the old court, house

are not able to pay lor it, and wo
must have somewhere to hold court

Mr. Editor I desire to say a few
words in your valuable paper in reply
to an article which was written
from Blanch, appearing in the issue
of the Herald dated April the 23rd,
which attempted to state that
Messrs E. N. Johnson, D. M. Alford,
M. B. Hard wick, and H. J.
Graham visited the home ot Mr. J.
M. D. Cannon,on Sunday April lilth.
As to Mr. Graham he might have
| visited Mr. Cannons' home that day
hut as to Messrs. Alford, Hard wick
and Johnson I will say his statement
is utterly false, for all of the three
wore in the Box section all of that
day.
A curious specimen of wild animal
has been infesting some of the
farmers near here. At one place
near here it is being told that it
had destroyed several bushels of
seed potatoes for one man. Mr. P
Graham an expert hunter of Baybo
ro offered him a race on the night
of April lHth being sure he would
lind him near Joiner Swamp where
he had ranged regularly for some
time, but unfortunately the animal
was up between Blanche andBayboro
and he escaped a warm race wh/ch
Mr. Grahams' trained racer would
have doubtlessly given him. Mr.

Hotter liilucational Advantaces
During the past six months the
people at Doris have advocated better
educational advantages for their
children. Wo are thankful to state
that our hopes are about to bo realized.
On April 21st, our town and
community made a big stop toward
educational progress by voting soveu
thousand dollar bonds to have a
modern brick school building erected.
Marly last winter three school districts
voted to establish a high school
at Doris. During the last sossion of
the Degislaturo we asked the Hor?*y
delegation to pass a bill allowing us
to vote the above bonds, which was
done. Wo feel under many obligations
