OUR ELI We are showing Shirt Waist and F Ladies Muslin Un Hal L. G Hull's Island Ileitis. I Health of our community is gen-, erally good. | Our farmers are very busy getting ready for planting There will be! an effort mode this time to make ai a good money crop, but crops will be diversified?some cotton, j some tobacco, but mostly corn, potatoes and cane. Rev G W Harre'.son, our pastor at Springfield, filled his regular ap pointmei.t last Sunday and preached a very interesting sermon. Mr and Mrs J J Hughes, of Clarendon, N C., were pleasant visitors at the homes of S P and N G Hughes. Miss Height Lewis, who has been teaching' Sweet Home school, has | closed the present term of her school and returned to home near Nichols. She is a Hue teacher and from what, we can learn has given satis action to the patrons of the school. Mr W J Hughes and sister, Miss Lutze, have returned from a pleasant trip at Chad boo rn and Beaver Dam. N C. We love t.o read the Herald It is so interesting. We noticed with interest a short article headed, "The True Way." Now, dear readers, while we, too, believe in theadvancement of education and we are sure we sue not doing our duty to our children by neglecting to give them the advantages of this grand jewel in the ! sisterhood of human progress so fains we are able. But lot us as children of God wake up and ho about our father's business. Bet us follow Christ., for he said, "I am the light of the world:" he further said, "ve are the light of the world." Now, are we living in a manner to let our light so shine that others seeing our good works may be constrained to glorify our father which is in heaven? If not we are not we are as the blind leading the blind and as Christ said both fall into the ditch. So let us examine ourselves and if this be out condition we ulw\tt1sl It' U1 1 r?/l !?'??*? ?*-? niiuuiu, no |.WWI IMIIIU inu I/IIIIUIIM, i: X - I claim, "Lord that mine eyes may be opened." and when our spiritual: eyes are opened we will be ready to teach some of the blessed truths which our Saviour taught when the Jews marvelled, saying, "How knoweth this man letters having never learned." Now, dear readoi s, hit us wake up and follow Cnrist s > at his coming we, may be as the wLe virgins with our lamps trimmed and burning 011 the wedding garments and b > prepared to hear the welcome, "Well done, thou good, and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over few things I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joys of thy Lord ' May God g he p u? all to *oek first, the kingdom of ho. v-n and lis rig ilousnor s, i pur prujror for Christ sake.
