First, because I have b?on deprived of a school room education, My father died and h ft me when I was quite youno. Leaving no other son I had to take charge of the farm, and by the help of (loci I have reared myself, my sisters and supported my j?ood old mother and had some to spare. Fellow Citizens:?I suppose at least some of von may think strange of me having my card in the Herald for Supervisor and not being in the campaign, or even represented by proxy. Or. the Dth of this month I was taken down sick, but thankCod I am better now, although not able to go on the campaign. I think 1 will be in\Couway on election day. 1 am no stranger in Horry county; you all know me and know my worth, f was chairman of the Hoard of County Commissioners four years and if I did not do my full duty, I have not found it out. I was also Supervisor two years. Now if the voters see merit enough in me to give mo a majority of their votes, 1 will give my best talent and time in the discharge of my duty, 1 moved to Horry county in 1858 a?d have called it homo ever since. Two or three years ago, my wife's health being very bad, I agreed for her to come to Wilmington to see if her health would get better. Since then I have been part of my time in Horry and the balance in Wilming' ton, but at no time six months at either place. I consider Horry my home and my interest is mostly there. At the suggestion of friends I wish to say that when the election was had on the "Stock Law" in this county a few years ago, I voted against the proposition, along with the other 90 per cent of Hie people. I have boen in the Legislature now for two years and have net attempted its passage.
