Dorham, John C. Spivey and Col. C. P. Quattlebuam, he'd a meeting last Saturday and settled the matter of a site for the new court house and jail. The square between 131m wood and Ueaty streets and 2nd and 3rd Avenues, containing three acres, and a one half acre lot on the opposite square immediately in the rear of this, offered as a site by \V, R. Lewis was -.accepted by the com mission at the 1 nrice of St 1(100 fs N ir en . ) , - - - - . a ^ 11 mi; mit! lO ttlns splendid property proves to 1)0 good, and no one bus any reason i tto doubt it now, the deal will be losed and the new buildings erected there The site is located just beyond the Porter property on Third avenue and the court house will be the third building on the left hand side of the avenue going froin the Porter stables. The purchase carries with it the agreement that the streets on all sides of the square shall be opened up, and the right has been secured also to drain into the water over the .adjoining property of Mr. Lewis. 1 The old lot now occupied by the court house and jail will likely be 1 cut up into suitable business lots and sold. The bonds for raising the money | have been advertised for sale and the bids will close at 2 o'clock on the 15th day of June. Already the commissioners have received twenty five or more inquiries from persons wishing to bid on the bonds, and I these communications shew that the | bidding for the bonds will be lively and sharp. Ajrainst Hind Timers. Quantities of liquor arc being shipped hero by express to various people over the c ounty, but the express has posted strict rules in plain view of everybody at the express office. These rules provide that liquor must not be delivered except to bona lido consignees, and i only to the consignee to whom ad 1 dressed, and to the original consig- 1 nee only, and the agents are re- 1 quired to insist that the packages ' will not be delivered on orders sent < to the office bv the'persons to whom i addressed. He will have to remain in jail until June court when ho will be tried, unless bond is funished previously.
