Health of the community is good , .vith the exception of colds, but we ' unnot wonder at colds being so ' imncrons when winter comes so I lear us in May. We had several . jool nights last week in which jack Yost visited us again, and we hope ' 'or the last time this spring. I Some of our farmers are planting , )otton for tho third time. Some will not plant cotton again but will 1 jut in corn instead, and 1 hope that I ,hose that do plant the staple crop . where they intended to cultivate jotton will not lose anything by so ' loing, but will reali/e a bountiful | larvcst, and 1 have reasons to be- | ieve they will, for we <xl 1 know as a ulo farmers reserve their most ' ertile soil for cotton, and further I nore, they put more fertilizer on | his already fertile soil than they loon their weaker lands which they ' jlant in corn. Now you see that I he soil that is litly prepared for | ;ot ton is better prepared for corn, md the man that plants corn where ' in lirst prepared for cotton will be I ,cry unlucky it he don't realize the >cst corn crop that probably he ;ver housed, and this is the I nan who in my judgment is joing to heir the happier life, or if he has got the hominy here is no chance to knock him out 1 >f the hog so when in; possesses >oth hog and homin v of his own at mine he can then be his own man md he won't have to leave home to lo it. From what I can see the farmers ire hustling more than their crops. >ut if thoy ox)), ct summer to ap>oar in the near future we hope their l :rops will overtake them in due ^ imo. 1 Joel White and his brother John, : isited relatives and friends in North Carolina the last, of last week.
