Conway this week is entertaining Confederate veterans with open arms. The reunion was advertised extensively and the veterans were made to understand that they would be welcome in the homes of the town, and the.y arc here, l/ast year the town had a reunion which was enjoyed by all the old soldiers and by people of the town too, but last year's reunion was nothing compared to this. The sons and daugh tors of the heroes of the Lost Cause have shown themselves this week as being very much in love with the small contingent of survivors which every year is growing less and less in numbers. May all those who are here this week live to see another year when we have no doubt Conway will give another reunion exceeding if possible the success of this one. So.mk one thought the court house commissioners were asleep, or at least "at sea'' as to *vhere to put the new buildings. Doubtless the commission will soon show that they are very wide awake, and we have no doubt that they will select the proper place and the new buildings will be just where they ought to be. The best lesson the small farmer can learn is to realize that to buy on time is to pay two prices, and that by savins? his income and getting ahead, so that he can buy with cash and wherever lie pleases, he will mount the ladder of pros| erity by several rounds. Quit giving crop liens. The serious manner to labor in this section, to which attention was called in our last issue, will doubtless receive attention, for the commissioner states in his letter, published elsewhere, that lie has communiated with the proper authorities Notiiino but the tight strings uround the pocket books prevents lhf> lilli 111 ?.. w ...... ^ wi niiiiii: \ilCilllt spaces ulon# our streets. Oontini*ei) growth and improvement in the town calls for continued efforts toward that end. Town authorities and citizens take the hint. As thk Methodist conference took all the chickens, the reunion army are subsisting on strawberries and cream. There are too many in Conway who are minus the least spark of town pride. mmwmmww )UR GENTS RNISHING DEPT. LJinson says the yearling . was U i I led and the train killed it tis a i witness that it was his because the arbitrators gave it to inc. I guess r the train ran over it, but whether it was killed bv the train or not is | more than I can say as 1 have been told it was killed by a night train. | Is it not strange that it did not get i killed in the day time. Hinson said that the yearling would do too no good but have already received full value for it if the train did kill it. As lie told you all the threats he j . made at the arbitration in his article I say the yearling was mine and am able to prove it by responsible witi esses. Hinson claimed ho marked it when it was a calf but T have not been able to lind out what his proper v ear mark is. He was asked while on v his oath at the arbitration what his f ear mprk was and he first gave three a different marks and finally said he ti had no certain mark. 1 guess, if some one would find Hinson's yearl- ^ ing he would try to claim ho was , mistaken as he did once before. I will say my yearling was consider * ably larger than his and also of a _ different color, but yet he claims it and says he is not spending his money for the value of the yearling but for the honor in the ease I will say when the court hears both sides of the ease he is not going to get any honor and but little beef.
