Bui loci? conducted the Sunday school class in a very i nice manner and saw that everydody got a plenty of dinner. After dinner we all gathered in the church and "Belle" of Mt. Zion picked the tree of its beautiful and useful presents. All had a jolly time and will be long remembered by those present. Xmas passed olT quieter than we expected. C,, October 5th, 1834, [lied at his homo in Ilorry county, near Greon Sea, December 10th, 1 1005 of heart dropsy. His remains < were laid to rest in the Princcviilc burying ground in the presence of a host of friends. He came to South Carolina in < 1857 and soon married Martha Graham who has long preceded him to that better land. In 188.4 he married Miss Ellen . Graham, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. II Graham. To this happy couple was born live children who survive him. He was a consistant member of the M. E. church at lotia where he served as steward for many years He served as a private soldier in the tenth S. C. regiment in the war between the States. He bore his illness without a murmur and often remarked to the writer that lie was ready to go, only waiting for God's time. Ho was a devoted husband and an afTectionate father. We will miss him, but we trust he is gone where he can join in singing and praising God with the Angels in the beautiful mansions prapared for all those who are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. To the bereaved ones, weep not after him, he is waiting to welcome you where Jesus lives. May God help us all to live such lives as will prepare us to meet liirn when God calls for us. W. A. Prince. I will drop you a few t >bacco notes, giving my experience. There is no other crop that depends so much on qua'ity as tobacco. Some tobacco finds slow sale at M cents per pound, other tobacco finds ready sale at 20 cents per pound. There is seldom an overproduction of good tobacco. The qauality of tobacco dap- nds on the qwntity. 1 do no mean the number of pounds but the number of hills, for instance take MO.000 and obtain a yield of^OOO pounds to the acre that will bring 5 cents per pound on the market . Take another Fanner that plants 10,000 hills the same season. By proper and judicious vise of fertilizer and care in gathering and curinir would obtain a yeild averaging 1500 pounds per acre worth 10 cents per pound. The large planter secured a crop of 4,000 pounds, costing him $150 per acre and soiling at $200 making a profit of $50. Tne small planter produced a crop of 4,750 pounds costing him $225 and selling it for $475. a net profit of $150 Every tobacco grower who has been a close obsor ver of tobacco h?*s seen same results.
